  • Salary: £18,600 pro rata / £24,800 - FTE / On-site accommodation may also be available
  • Contract: Permanent, Monday-Friday
  • 37.5 hours per week/ Term-time only- 34 weeks per year.

Drama Theatre Technician:

The Role:

Our client is looking for a multi-skilled technician to work alongside their Theatre Manager in their state-of-the-art theatre.

The successful applicant will have experience of scenic design and construction in addition to knowledge of the rigging and operations of lighting, sound and A.V. systems. Experience in the following would be beneficial: Jands Vista, QLab, and Adobe Creative Cloud.

Main Purpose of the job:

  • To provide technical assistance within the Drama department in the following ways:
  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for who you are responsible and with whom you come into contact with.
  • To design and construct props and scenery as required.
  • To assist with lighting, sound and media projects as required.
  • To assist with storage solutions and maintenance within the dept.
  • To have knowledge of and implement Health and Safety policy within the theatre.
  • To support our client during the holidays periods as required. Other duties that are deemed appropriate to the role by the Principal.

Personal Specification:

Qualifications

  • English and Maths at GCSE level
  • Technical Theatre Degree

Experience

  • Person has and is willing to develop skills in all areas of technical theatre.

Skills

  • A specialism in one or more of the following:
  • Carpentry
  • Scenic construction
  • Set Design
  • Lighting rigging and operation
  • Sound rigging and operation
  • Projection rigging and operation
  • Videography and editing

Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of plays and theatrical genres
  • Knowledge of theatrical plant and equipment
  • Knowledge of theatrical health and safety standards

Personal competencies and qualities

  • Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
