Digital Content Editor

Posted by Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited.

Your new company
My client are a leading Education provider in the Bournemouth area. Due to a project to upgrade and enhance their intranet experience, they are migrating to a new Sharepoint digital workspace solution and are therefore seeking content support for the project, until the end of the 2024 calendar year. This role will balance remote working with regular visits to the Bournemouth offices.

Your new role
You will be required to support the auditing and management of content to be migrated from the current intranet to a new digital workspace solution. The main focus of your job will be auditing existing content on the intranet based on crawls and templates supplied by the Digital team to ensure this is current and accurate. As they use a devolved model for content on the intranet, the role will require you to work with content owners across different teams to support them through this review process and to develop engaging copy for their individual sections of the new workspace. This will involve providing editorial/copywriting support when required, as well as processing amends and liaising with content owners for sign-off.

In addition, you will support the building of the site structure, as well as the migration and development of content into the workspace. In this role, you will write, edit, and provide sub-editing and proofreading assistance as part of the wider project.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience working on a content migration project; able to conduct content audits and made recommendations on which content should be migrated to the new site, which content is no longer required, and which needs to be updated before migrating
  • Good communication skills to liaise with content owners across the organisation to facilitate content removal, production or migration to the new site
  • Awareness of navigation, UX and page structure principles - able to advise on best practice
  • Ability to upload, edit and manage content online - previous experience with Sharepoint is desired
  • Previous knowledge or experience with HTML, UAT and content governance
  • Experience and ability to review, write and edit content to be engaging, user-centric and effective in communicating with the target audience

What you'll get in return
You will receive a rate of between £14.42 - £25 per hour (depending on experience) for this contract, with the ability to work flexibly from home on the understanding that there will be the requirement to attend important on-site meetings in Bournemouth on a regular basis as required. This is a full-time contract, inside IR35, for an estimated 5-6 months (final completion date of project is Feb 2025).
