Reinsurance Purchaser
To assust the Outwards Reinsurance department, secure coverage, manage programmes and relationships for allocated parts of the Line of Business portfolio.
Main duties
- Placement of outwards Reinsurance (both XoL and Proportional)
- Analysis and review of prospective Reinsurance, evaluating portfolio risks and exposures
- Review and agreement of placing slips
- Maintaining good reinsurer and broker relationships
- Production of reinsurance renewal information / exhibits
- Review of underlying data for risk assessment and portfolio optimization
- Regular (quarterly) account analysis
- Provide information in order to respond to Reinsurer queries
- Monitoring account developments
- Provide cover across the Outwards Reinsurance Purchasers as required, with collaboration and flexibility to work on different programmes / across the broader team based on resourcing requirements
- Various ad-hoc tasks
Regulatory responsibilities
- Manage the relationships with Customers, Agents and Service Providers:
- Advise, assist and service customers on insurance and risk matters to promote customers' satisfaction;
- Foster positive relationships with Customers and attain an understanding of their needs;
- Ensure that Customer Complaints are promptly identified, recorded and referred as appropriate; and,
- Ensure that the principles of Treating Customers Fairly are upheld by Agents and Service Providers
Candidate Requirements as below.
- Reinsurance purchasing experience
- Good Reinsurer and broker relationships
- Programme ownership experience
- Good understanding of Reinsurance, Reinsurance purchasing process and risk appetite
- Good understanding of Insurance (desirable)
Technical
- Technical reinsurance skills
- Ability to analyse and understand RI Pricing/Rating
- Excellent knowledge of Excel
- Good knowledge of Word
- Highly numerate with good data manipulation skills
- Good awareness of risks and controls
- Experience of Adobe X Pro (desirable)
- Experience of XL pro (desirable)

- Degree qualified
- ACII qualified or actively studying
