Reinsurance Purchaser

To assust the Outwards Reinsurance department, secure coverage, manage programmes and relationships for allocated parts of the Line of Business portfolio.

Main duties

  • Placement of outwards Reinsurance (both XoL and Proportional)
  • Analysis and review of prospective Reinsurance, evaluating portfolio risks and exposures
  • Review and agreement of placing slips
  • Maintaining good reinsurer and broker relationships
  • Production of reinsurance renewal information / exhibits
  • Review of underlying data for risk assessment and portfolio optimization
  • Regular (quarterly) account analysis
  • Provide information in order to respond to Reinsurer queries
  • Monitoring account developments
  • Provide cover across the Outwards Reinsurance Purchasers as required, with collaboration and flexibility to work on different programmes / across the broader team based on resourcing requirements
  • Various ad-hoc tasks

Regulatory responsibilities

  • Manage the relationships with Customers, Agents and Service Providers:
  • Advise, assist and service customers on insurance and risk matters to promote customers' satisfaction;
  • Foster positive relationships with Customers and attain an understanding of their needs;
  • Ensure that Customer Complaints are promptly identified, recorded and referred as appropriate; and,
  • Ensure that the principles of Treating Customers Fairly are upheld by Agents and Service Providers

Candidate Requirements as below.

  • Reinsurance purchasing experience
  • Good Reinsurer and broker relationships
  • Programme ownership experience
  • Good understanding of Reinsurance, Reinsurance purchasing process and risk appetite
  • Good understanding of Insurance (desirable)

Technical

  • Technical reinsurance skills
  • Ability to analyse and understand RI Pricing/Rating
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel
  • Good knowledge of Word
  • Highly numerate with good data manipulation skills
  • Good awareness of risks and controls
  • Experience of Adobe X Pro (desirable)
  • Experience of XL pro (desirable)

Education & Experience

  • Degree qualified
  • ACII qualified or actively studying
