Sellick Partnership are delighted to be exclusively recruiting for a permanent Newly Qualified Lawyer to join the supportive and friendly Legal Team at the London Borough of Lewisham. Our client is seeking a qualified lawyer to sit in the social care team who has experience in Childcare, preferably from a local authority setting but they are open to applicants from private practice who want to transfer their skills. The role can be worked on a hybrid working basis, and the desired candidate will be expected to attend the office in Catford twice a week.

The main duties of the successful Newly Qualified Childcare Lawyer will include:

  • Holding a caseload of predominantly pre-proceedings (PLO's)
  • Undertaking a wide variety of more straight forward child protection or adult protection cases, including giving advice and assistance
  • Carry out legal research for own cases and by way of support to other lawyers within the team
  • Attend all meetings with clients and external parties, professionals' meetings and panels as required, and advise on all aspects of social services work
  • Advising Social Services clients in person and in writing, on the relevant legislation
  • To demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation, and specifically the jurisdiction of the Family Court and/or the Court of Protection
