Field Support Representative

A unique opportunity has arisen within our Field Support team to work as an FSR supporting an exciting new product within MBDA's range of Land based weapon systems. In this role, you will spend their first 2 years based at either the MBDA Stevenage or Filton site, supporting the development of the product and playing a key role in assuring future supportability while also gaining vital knowledge of the product and company culture and process.

This will lead directly in to the 2nd stage where you will join our Field Support team based in Poland on a 3 year International assignment and undertake the responsibilities of an active Field Support representative.

Job Title: Field Support Representative

Salary: £38,000 - £50,000 depending on experience

Location: Stevenage or Bristol – Then Poland (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3-4 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

  • In Years 1 and 2 you will be based at MBDA Filton or Stevenage working alongside the product development team and providing support and input to ensure future supportability of the product.
  • You will also work closely with the Technical Publications and training teams, acting as a interface and assisting with the development of documentation.
  • You will have the opportunity to travel to Poland in the first 2 years to build relationships with the deployed MBDA community and customers.
  • In Years 3 to 5 you will be based in Poland as part of a multi-national MBDA Field Support Team.
  • Once deployed to Poland, you will work as part of the Field Support Team for our Land based complex weapon systems, providing support to the Customer at various locations as required within the scope of your Company Approval.
  • Support both scheduled and corrective maintenance/repair activities.
  • Respond to Technical Queries from the Customer in a reasonable and timely manner
  • Initiate and implement process and technology improvements to deliver continuous improvements in MBDA Quality and product availability.
  • Ensure all necessary tools and equipment are available for use or perform timely replacement and or calibration to secure minimal disruption.
  • Assist other organisations with information and technical support regarding Company products during support, installation and commissioning activities, at the Customer's location.
  • Be sensitive and appropriately responsive to the Customer's local culture, behaviour and requirements.

What we're looking for from you:

  • An experienced Field Support engineer that once trained is able to play an active role supporting MBDA Ground Based products in use with our Polish Customer to the highest quality, on time and on cost.
  • Hold a current passport/driving license, be willing and able to travel within Poland, the EU and the UK as required.
  • Polish language skills would be a benefit however training will be given as part of the International Assignment package.
  • Prior knowledge of, or experience with complex weapon systems within the Air or Land domain would be an advantage, however, training will be provided before deployment.
  • A formal qualification at level 5 in either mechanical or electrical engineering or at least 5 years working in a related field.
  • A background in Systems Engineering and working on digital systems would be beneficial.
  • A background in munition fleet management would be beneficial.
  • You need to be a practical ‘hands on' engineer willing to work with the Missile System Designers, Polish Industry, and our Customers.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills as you will need to be able to work with a variety of different stakeholders all while maintaining a willing, helpful attitude and a calm professional manner; even when things are changed at the last minute.
  • Be willing and able to build sound knowledge of Polish military structure, Polish MOD culture and MBDA engineering processes whilst keeping yourself up to date in the relevant technical areas.
  • Able to provide Support to Design, Trials or Individual Projects when required and liaise with product suppliers in support of Field Support activities.
  • Able to maintain personal and Technical reports and records of all Field Support activities, to a high standard.
  • Be in a good state of health and capable of undertaking all the physical demands of the role including working at height, working in confined spaces, working outdoors in various environmental conditions. (An assessment of your suitability to meet these requirements will be undertaken by our occupational health team upon joining the business).
