We are seeking a career minded Assistant Accountant for a well-known organisation in Hedge End, Southampton. This a permanent role with study support for AAT or ACCA/CIMA, depending on the needs of the selected candidate.

Key responsibilities for the Assistant Accountant role:
- Responsible for the ensuring ledger integrity and implementing controls
- Prepare key information required for monthly management account packs
- Reconciliation of balance sheets
- Reconciliation of bank accounts
- Assist with year-end audit queries
- Responsible for reconciling payments on a daily basis and resolving discrepancies
- Providing accurate and timely information to Head of Departments
- Assisting sales ledger and purchase ledger, if required
- Ensuring VAT is correctly posted and assisting with VAT returns
- Manage month end activities
- Provide ad-hoc support to Head of Finance as required
Required knowledge and experience for the Assistant Accountant role:
- Actively studying AAT or CIMA/ACCA
- Experience within transactional accounts roles with strong reconciliation skills, preferably within a business with a large volume of transactions.
- Intermediate Excel skills (experience of VLookups and Pivot Tables)
