LTF Recruitment is collaborating closely with a primary school in Chesterfield to fill the positions of a full-time and a morning part-time SEND Assistant. The selected candidates will collaborate closely with the school's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to deliver exceptional care to children with diverse needs, such as ASD, ADHD and ADD. Prospective candidates are required to be qualified and possess relevant experience to meet the challenges of this role.

Main duties will entail:

  • Working with students requiring additional support both on a 1:1 basis and within smaller group environments.
  • Taking responsibility for the provision of care and appropriate learning opportunities for your designated child.
  • Supervising children, protecting them from dangerous or harmful situations.
  • Liaise with the child's parent/carer, providing them with a daily activity record.
  • Update Class Teacher/SENDCo regularly on child's academic, social, and physical progression.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working with children in a school environment is desirable.
  • An excellent understanding of special educational needs including ASD, ADHD, challenging behaviour, and developmental delays.
  • Calming mannerisms in challenging situations.
  • The ability to think and act quickly both as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong behaviour management skills while creating a fun learning environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
