Procurement Manager

The Company

Nigel Wright's Supply Chain and Procurement Team are working with a global business to recruit a Procurement Manager.

The role requires 1 day per week office-based working in Newcastle - with flexibility for fortnightly on site working for candidates located outside of the Northeast.

The Opportunity

The Procurement Manager will manage and lead a multi-site, Europe-wide located Procurement and Supply Chain Team:

  • Managing the Procurement and Supply Chain Team – covering day to day purchasing, strategic procurement and inventory management
  • Driving and implementing Procurement strategy globally
  • Procurement lead for an extensive, global project portfolio
  • Managing multisite procurement spend across direct and indirect spend, covering tech, electronics, spares, facilities management etc.
  • Supplier relationship management/-development – identifying new entrants to market, opportunities to resource, improve terms
  • Contract negotiations, supplier performance management – working in conjunction with Group level Category Managers
  • Internal stakeholder management/engagement - representing Procurement and Supply Chain at Exec level meetings, updating upon project status/inventory/ performance against strategy

About You

The successful Procurement Manager will have/be:

  • Strategic procurement and/or commercial experience from a manufacturing background (international, multisite) essential with an understanding of inventory management processes
  • Experienced in managing broad category portfolio - direct and indirect within a global business essential
  • Category management of electrical/electronic components and or tech/IT beneficial
  • Previous team management/leadership essential
  • Data driven and analytical with a continuous improvement mindset - identifying opportunities to improve procurement/supply chain management best practice
  • Spirited, resilient, strong communicator, confident in engaging, communicating with and building relationships cross functionally with internal/external stakeholders of all levels globally e.g. Sales/Bid Management/Technical and Operations teams
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing business requirements, accustomed to working under pressure, to deadline
