About the role

You will lead on the delivery of the Exemplas Grants Coordinator team, supporting the successful delivery of the Innovate UK Business Growth Grants Programme, through support and administration of the grant's programmes process. Your role as Lead Coordinator within the Grants team will be central to our ambition to be a recognised Partner of Choice within the national consortium of partners delivering Innovate UK Business Growth Support.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing a team of Grant Coordinators, covering all aspects of people management activities (recruitment and onboarding, performance management and improvement, absence management, learning and development, coaching and mentoring, wellbeing, etc.)
  • Leading the Grants team in the review of grant applications for eligibility and compliance at each stage of the grants process, from application through to claims
  • Leading the Grants team in providing guidance to SMEs to ensure the submission of eligible and compliant applications and funding claims
  • Managing the project related support provided to the Innovate UK Business Growth delivery teams in their day-to-day roles, including support in fulfilment of client enquiries regarding monitoring, assisting and checking completion of project documentation, minimising errors and gaps in grant information
  • Managing the first point of contact process for SMEs, delivery teams and partners for project related enquiries
  • Managing the grants programme audit trail, ensuring it is robustly maintained and recorded, that all activities are eligible and achieve the projects' intended objectives.

About you

We are looking for someone with proven management skills in a time critical, multi project environment with an administration, finance or projects background, who demonstrates attention to detail.

In addition, you will:

  • Experience of leading a team in a customer-facing role, preferably with SMEs
  • Experience of leading project work, ideally in a similar role with public sector funding
  • Experience of leading a team within a busy environment, responding to multiple demands at a time
  • Experience of financial and general monitoring and project management systems
  • Experience of working with databases and maintaining accurate customer information on a CRM system
  • Experience of and working knowledge of HR processes for managing people and teams
  • People management skills, in particular motivating and encouraging others, coaching and mentoring, adaptable communication style, managing conflict, giving feedback, etc).

  • We are more interested in finding the right person but we are loosely looking in the region of £28,080 - £36,000 pa FTE
