Role Overview:

Seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join their team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the continuity of learning during teacher absences, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for all students. This role requires a proactive individual who can manage classrooms effectively, support students with SEN, and address behavioural challenges with confidence and empathy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes during the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain on task with their learning activities.
  • Implement lesson plans provided by teaching staff, ensuring students understand the objectives and complete assigned tasks.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, addressing any disruptions promptly and appropriately.
  • Provide additional support to students with SEN, including those with Autism, ADHD, moderate learning difficulties, and behavioural challenges.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel respected and valued.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and SEN coordinators to ensure the specific needs of students are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and report any concerns to relevant staff members.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in an educational setting, preferably in a supervisory or support role.
  • Understanding of SEN, including Autism, ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work, with a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education or SEN support is desirable but not essential.
  • Current DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
