IT Support Engineer

We are supporting a UK based organisation to secure a highly skilled IT Support Engineer to join their team within the Edinburgh office.

You will have extensive experience in 1st and 2nd line support, as you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to systems, hardware, and software.

This role involves resolving technical issues whilst maintaining the IT infrastructure, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT services.

The Role:

  • Provide efficient technical support to end-users via phone, email, and in-person, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Manage and maintain Office 365 environments, including user account setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage Azure resources and services, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Perform regular system maintenance, updates, and backups to ensure the integrity and availability of IT systems.
  • Track and document all incidents and service requests using the company's ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and follow-up.
  • Provide training and support to end-users to enhance their understanding and effective use of IT resources.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of hardware and software assets, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements.
  • Assist in the management and troubleshooting of network-related issues, including LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi.
  • Work closely with other IT team members and departments to ensure seamless integration and support of IT systems and services.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all IT processes, procedures, and configurations.

About You:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT support roles, with a focus on 1st and 2nd line support.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office 365 administration and support.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure administration and services.
  • Proficient in Windows operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and Group Policy management.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Exposure to vitalisation technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communicator, both written & verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Customer-focused with a proactive approach to resolving issues.
