Job Title: Complex Care Assistant

Location: Romford

Job Type: Shift work: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

Monday to Sunday 5pm to 11pm

Number of Positions: 3-4

Job Description:

Seeking a 3 to 4 vibrant, outgoing Complex Care Assistants. No previous experience necessary as will be fully trained.

You must be dedicated and engaging. You will support a young gentleman living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Our client, who has full mental capacity, is fully verbal, and possesses a great sense of humour. He resides in a very welcoming home with his parents.

Our client enjoys engaging conversations and debates, going out into the community, bowling, and attending concerts at the O2. This role involves providing personal care, supporting with a body jacket, ceiling and mobile hoist use and assisting with various medical equipment including an oxygen concentrator, nebuliser, suction machine, feeding pump (PEG), and BiPAP Machine.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care assistance, including PEG, suctioning, and using medical equipment such as an oxygen concentrator, nebulizer, suction machine, PEG, and BiPAP machine.
  • Engage in conversations and debates with our client, ensuring an enjoyable and engaging environment.
  • Accompany our client on outings and to attend social activities, such as bowling and concerts.
  • Be available during the shift for any assistance our client may require, while respecting their independence and privacy.
  • Maintain a friendly and welcoming demeanour, fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere.

Required Characteristics:

  • Must be unfazed by any challenging situations and have a resilient character
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be compassionate, patient, and have an engaging personality.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in using medical equipment like oxygen concentrators, nebulisers, suction machines, PEG, and BiPAP machines.
  • Experience in a similar role, preferably with complex care.
  • Certification in healthcare or relevant field.
  • Proficiency in using medical equipment like oxygen concentrators, nebulizers, suction machines, PEG, and BiPAP machines
  • Prior experience working with individuals with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
  • Valid driver's license (if accompanying the client on outings).
