Indirect Tax Manager - Permanent - FTSE listed manufacturing business

£75,000 - £90,000 + Bonus

Location - Cheshire

We're seeking an Indirect Tax Manager to join a FTSE listed manufacturing business.

Reporting directly to the Group Head of Tax, this role focuses on overseeing the Group's indirect tax operations.

We're looking to speak with candidates who have strong grasp of tax technicalities, a creative mindset, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving. Clear communication skills are essential, as you'll need to translate complex tax concepts for non-specialists and work closely with finance, legal, and commercial colleagues to ensure tax compliance and minimise risks.

Responsibilities include streamlining indirect tax processes, overseeing VAT compliance, advising on VAT and customs matters for European and international operations, assessing tax implications of corporate strategies, staying updated on legislation changes, and ensuring robust compliance procedures. You'll also mentor junior team members, lead or participate in tax projects, and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant professional qualification with 5-8 years of post-qualification experience in indirect taxes, preferably from a Big 4 or mid-tier firm or an in-house tax team. Familiarity with European VAT and Customs regimes, exposure to US indirect tax, and knowledge of ERP systems like SAP or Microsoft Dynamics AX are advantageous.

Key competencies include a solid understanding of European VAT legislation, ability to thrive under pressure, teamwork, and effective communication skills.
