Legal Assistant

We have taken a great role for a Legal Assistant to join a supportive and inovative Private Client team based in the Clevedon area.

The Legal Assistant will support the Wills, Probate and Estate Administration Department. You will be integral to the success of the business, providing Lawyers with essential and pro-active support. The successful candidate will benefit from working alongside an experienced Partner and a friendly and supportive team where each individual is encouraged to strive to fulfill their individual professional development goals, within a firm who put their clients at the heart of what they do.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Drafting of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney;
  • Assist their line manager by being an additional point of contact for clients;
  • Managing the day to day running of Estate Administration matters;
  • Undertake certain elements of chargeable work under supervision as allocated by partners and other fee earners;
  • Deal with chasing of clients and third parties;
  • Be the first point of contact for the department's initial enquiries over the telephone and face to face and provide costs information to the client;
  • Open electronic files following receipt of instructions from client. The practice are in the process of working towards achieving a paperless office;
  • Assist with maintaining electronic and physical files so they remain compliant and up to date;
  • Preparing correspondence and documents through audiotyping and word processing;
  • Ensuring the confidentiality and security of all the firm's and client documentation and information;
  • Open and scan in post for the office;
  • Maintain adequate supplies and resources for the office.

Skills and experience:

  • Have strong communication and client care skills to ensure our clients receive an efficient, reliable and friendly service over the telephone, in written correspondence and face to face;
  • Must have legal support experience, ideally within wills, trusts and probate;
  • Demonstrate initiative and be flexible and proactive in their support to the department and the wider office team;
  • Have strong organisational skills to manage their own workload whilst managing their line manager's diary;
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and have excellent typing skills;
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Digital Dictation;
  • Be a team player but also be able to work autonomously;
  • Be passionate about law and have a strong work ethic;
