This role has a starting salary of £35,730 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week.

We are excited to be hiring a new Data Engineer within Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. The team is based in Woodhatch, Reigate but we promote agile working as a team, and we split our time between working from home and working in the office or other council premises. We offer compressed hours and the ability to use?flexi hours for this role.

About the Role
The team focuses on gathering intelligence, forming insights and presenting data concerning the highest risk premises, sites and most vulnerable people in Surrey. The information is collected within a bespoke database (Prevent + Protect (P+P) from Infographics) and is provided in user friendly formats. This includes to operational firefighters during incidents on Mobile Data Terminals and using Tableau for trend and performance reporting.

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for development and maintenance of the P+P system (based on a SQL database) used by the organisation to collect, manage and convert prevention, protection and firefighter risk information. The role will involve data quality management and processing to ensure the data is valid and in accessible formats. You will also build and implement data flows to connect operational systems, and re-engineer manual data flows to enable scalable and repeatable use.
