Are you a passionate and skilled manager with proven experience in grant giving, corporate fundraising and grant administration, working in the charity sector?

Charity People are delighted to be partnering with a leading community initiative in South East London that is transforming the lives of the local residents. The charity partners with businesses, funders, community groups and residents to support them to give their time, money, networks and influence for the benefit of the community. The charity is part of a wider movement in London focused on the power and potential of place, citizen voice and partnership to improve the community in the long term.

The Grant Development Manager will lead an exciting and unique local giving programme, engaging new communities of contributors, leading impactful campaigns to raise awareness of the good causes and needs in the local area, and develop a legacy of local giving in the community.

Key responsibilities

  • Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement: Support the development of the charity's strategy and delivery plan, ensuring wide representation and engagement to inform future direction and priorities.
  • Giving Model and Communication: Develop a sustainable giving model with a clear communication plan, raise the profile of the programme, and ensure effective communication with key audiences through digital media, events, and other channels.
  • Campaign and Grant Management: Oversee giving campaigns, develop and equitably distribute grant funding programmes, and manage the online portal to increase giving opportunities and supporter engagement.
  • Research, Monitoring, and Representation: Conduct research to understand needs, establish a monitoring and evaluation system, and represent the programme and organisation externally in networks, events, and voluntary organisations.
  • Team management and leadership: Manage two members of staff and support learning, development and team collaboration.

The Grant Development Manager will have 5 years' experience in project or programme management and a strong track record in partnerships, business development and grant distribution. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of at least one programme area: volunteer programme development, grant distribution and oversight and/or income generation. The ideal candidate will have experience in corporate fundraising and raising funds to give funds.

You will have experience of the values and ethos of local giving and community participation and equity, equality and inclusion. You will also have strong monitoring and evaluation experience and be able to demonstrate your success in measuring the social impact of projects. With excellent organisation, management and communication skills, you will be able to effectively lead a team and this area of the charity's work.

If you are passionate about local giving and you have an innovative approach and leadership qualities to maximise future opportunities for community engagement, we would be delighted to hear from you.

The role is based in South East London (SE13) with a minimum of two days in the office and travel around the local area to meet with partners and stakeholders.
