About the Role:Hays are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Interim Finance Controller (ACA/ACCA) to join the finance team at a prestigious private school in the Plymouth area. This role is crucial in ensuring the effective and resilient day-to-day operation of their finance function. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining robust internal controls, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and delivering timely and accurate financial reporting.
Purpose of the Role:
- Ensure the effective and resilient day-to-day operation of the Finance function.
- Ensure the effective operation of internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with appropriate statutory, regulatory, bank, and tax authority requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of statutory and management reporting.
- Ensure the effective management of the annual audit process.
- Represent the Finance function to enable it to be an effective business partner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the financial accounting of the foundation and its trading subsidiaries, ensuring that fees and expenses are recorded correctly and in a timely manner.
- Act as the finance business partner, liaising with budget holders as appropriate. Produce the monthly management accounts, provide variance analysis, and work with budget holders to meet budgetary expectations.
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, ensuring ledgers are maintained in good order and all transactions are appropriately recorded in a timely manner.
- Oversee the debtors ledger and support the recovery of outstanding and overdue fees.
- Oversee and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Production and management of the annual budget and term reforecast.
- Maintain the monthly cash flow forecast.
Qualifications:
- ACA/ACCA qualified.
- Proven experience in a similar role (not essential).
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a hybrid working environment.
