Compliance Accountant

Hays Senior Finance is proud to be partnered with a Global, industry-leading manufacturing business associated with the food and beverage industry. They also engineer machinery; their high-speed machines can be found in plants around the world performing the value-added functions of the process. In addition to supplying individual machines, they also design and install.
This growing and reputable c120 million turnover organisation are recruiting a pivotal role to report directly to the Finance Director to strengthen their Finance team. They are looking to recruit a dedicated technical Chartered Accountant who is qualified in ACA/ICAEW for their site in Carlisle, Cumbria.
As Compliance Accountant, you will support the financial integrity of the company. The successful candidate will engage with the financial teams, both locally and internationally, whilst leading discussions with external advisors.
The key responsibilities of this job are: -

  • Support the period end close and review financial records for accuracy
  • Assist the preparation of statutory accounts
  • Prepare and analyse data for income tax relating to activities in UK and Hungary
  • Engage with tax advisors on various tax matters/risks and opportunities
  • Oversee VAT accounting (UK/international), supporting Hungary/Poland fiscal representatives
  • Manage the external audit process and deliverables
  • Support the quarterly balance sheet review process
  • Work with US corporate team to comply with group policies
  • Prepare data to support R&D expenditure credit claim
  • Co-ordinate JSOX compliance
  • Prepare and analyse lease accounting for the US parent entity
  • Identify and drive improvements in internal processes

The skills and experience required for this job include: -

  • Qualified and highly numerical Chartered Accountant
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Audit experience as either a client or auditor
  • Understand of principles of tax to discuss with external advisors
  • Able to confidently navigate and manipulate ERP systems to analyse data
  • Experience of working within a multi-site company and deal confidently with international colleagues/external parties
  • Sound organisational skills and able to meet tight deadlines
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel
  • Comfortable working independently but also teamwork effectively
