Responsibilities
Mechanical Assembly
- Mechanical assembly and testing of full machines and systems varying from standard machines and assemblies to large system with a wide range of complexity and customisation (e.g. nitrogen purge, cryomills, blenders, hoists etc.)
- Mechanical fitting of sub-assemblies (e.g. gearboxes, chain drives, leadscrews, bearing housings)
- Responsible for fault finding, troubleshooting, maintenance and problem solving prior in the assembly stages
- Repairing malfunctioning machines. Identify the problem, then find solutions to repair the issue.
Engineering Standards & Drawings
- Ensure that assembly and maintenance work complies with statutory and local engineering standards and requirements, using your own knowledge the support of Project Managers or Engineering Director
- Ability to read engineering drawings (e.g. GA's and 3D Model) in PDM and identify the order of assembly for parts and components for a project.
- Identify any discrepancies of parts from the GA at the assembly stages and inform Production Manager.
Machinery
- Experience in using workshop machinery such as guillotines, bandsaws, flat bed grinders, pillar drill and hydraulic presses to cut, drill and deburr parts and material for assembly
Business Processes
- Regular liaison with Production Manager to ensure deadlines are met and priorities assigned and actively participate in continuously improve mechanical assembly knowledge to enhance products and processes
QHSE
- Self-inspect work when finished to ensure all parts are present and the assembly is according to the drawing/model specification.
- Completion of final production inspection documentation-yellow sheets- and any quality documents at the final stages of assembly and prior to final quality inspection
- Ensure the machines and subassemblies are correctly set up for temperature testing, noise testing, passivation testing etc. and perform the tests in accordance with the procedure.
- Utilise the correct measuring and inspection equipment to complete a quality check on the machines and parts (e.g. surface finish tester, PICO data logger, Passivation tester etc.) Save the collected data in the job folders and /or register the data on the provided forms.
Additional Responsibilities
- Etching logos and serial numbers on machines and parts as per customer specifications and according to GA's and works orders
- Packing and crating of machines upon completion in accordance with the customer specification. Ensuring that all the documentation for despatch is completed (eg. packing lists, packing inspection checklists -blue sheets) and packing photos are taken and forwarded to the Production Manager
- Various tasks related to assembly, etching, packing and inspection of spare parts

Skills
- Awareness of ISO 9000 Standard (e.g. work procedures, quality control, traceability of materials) and Health and Safety good practice rules in a manufacturing environment. Safety conscious as working with machinery.
- Possess strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Possess good manual dexterity.
- Possess good communication skills
Experience
- Experience of using tool-room machinery such as drills, saws, lathes and mills etc is required.
- Experience of working within a similar Mechanical Fitting role is required.
- Experience of site work is desirable.
- Previous experience within an Engineering and Manufacturing environment.
