Mobile Plant Operator Recycling

We are currently looking to recruit a Mobile Plant Operator (Recycling) based at our Edmonton, North London site.

LondonEnergy operates the second largest waste management companies in the UK, handling and processing nearly 750,000 tonnes of London's waste every year.

Purpose of the role:

As a Mobile Plant Operator (Recycling), you will be responsible for safely controlling traffic movements within the Bulking & Loading areas, to safely operate mobile and static plant and to unload/load and store wastes & collected recyclables, to carry inspections as to the quality of materials and to ensure that the working area is kept clean at all times.

Operations:

  • To receive waste and recyclable materials from depositing vehicles.
  • To carry out waste inspection checks as per company policy or as directed. Reporting any non-conforming wastes, especially for level of contaminates found, and reporting findings or dealing with same as required as per company procedure.
  • Using the loading shovel to push deposited, materials into the FFP tipping hole.
  • To assist in the safe control of traffic and personnel ensuring a smooth flow of vehicles and safety of pedestrians.
  • Cleaning within the site area, and such other areas as may be directed.
  • To identify potential hazards relating to all aspects of the operation, including customers, reporting any discrepancies to the supervisor or Line Manager.
  • Assist site operations as directed by the manager/supervisor.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • To carry out daily routine maintenance checks to all plant utilised in carrying out the duties and as per manufacturers' and company guidelines, reporting any defects immediately.
  • To assist plant Fitters in changing of wear parts as required, replacing wear parts as necessary.
  • Daily cleaning of plant and machinery using pressure washer and air lines and hand tools.

Cleaning Operations:

  • To contain and dispose of any spillages as appropriate, ensuring the tipping areas floors are kept free of debris at all times.
  • To ensure the working area is cleaned on a regular basis or as required, using hand tools as necessary. This may also include other areas as directed by the manager or supervisor.
  • To carry out other duties at a similar level as may be required at the same or other company sites.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate must have a fully verifiable certificate for plant operation for Wheeled Loading Shovel above 10t.
  • 360 excavator above 10t (desirable).
  • Previous experience of waste disposal facilities is desirable.
  • Ability to identify and report health and safety defects, with a focus and dedication to following safety protocols.
  • Ability to work at height.
  • Able to work calmly under pressure.
  • Ability to use initiative and work flexibly and efficiently without constant supervision.
  • Good written English skills.
  • Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
