Senior Credit Controller, Staines area, £37.5k-£42.5k + bonus + benefits

The opportunity for the Senior Credit Controller:
We're looking for a proactive and experienced Senior Credit Controller, with a proven track record of hands-on management of a credit control function, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts and maintaining a healthy cashflow.
We are just about to start an ERP upgrade project to Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and expect the candidate to have a keen interest in the latest trends in credit control management and excellent IT and data management skills.
Supporting the business with credit risk management and cash flow forecasting, you will work closely with Operations and Commercial teams, as well as senior management to proactively resolve queries and minimise credit risk.
Key Responsibilities for the Senior Credit Controller:
General:
- Proactively managing and analysing customer accounts, ensuring payments are received to terms, managing debit note deductions and identifying potential risks.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining effective credit control policies and procedures that align with the company's objectives and industry best practices.
- Ensuring cash received is allocated timely and correctly
- Forecast cash receipts for key customers based on ledger data and customer payment patterns.
Month End Reporting:
- Preparation of Aged Debt analysis identifying balances at risk and action being taken
- Monitoring and reporting on debtor days and credit notes issued and providing monthly commentary.
Credit Management:
- Credit insurance - work with credit insurers for ongoing customer credit limit requirements, contribute to annual credit insurance renewal and submit quarterly turnover declarations.
- Set up new clients in the system and maintain up-to-date client records, including changes to billing or contact information.
Collaboration:
- Work with Operations team to review customer debit notes and deductions.
- Collaborating with other departments, such as Commercial and Operations, to ensure effective communication and coordination regarding customer accounts, pricing and orders, and other customer queries/issues.
Change Management:
- Lead process improvements across Credit Control, identify opportunities to improve and simplify the credit control processes to drive efficiencies.
Organisation:
- Managing one Assistant providing ongoing support, coaching and feedback, as well as quarterly appraisals.
Skills:
- Qualified or working towards CICM Level 3+
- Experience of working for a medium sized business in a senior credit controller role (+5 years).
- Proactive mindset and strong desire for continuous improvement.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively for both yourself and across the small team.
- Accounting system experience is essential - Microsoft Business Central would be ideal
- Experience of finance system implementation project an advantage.
- Demonstrate excellent Excel, data management and strong analytical skills, with the ability to provide customer focused analysis and commentary.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
