The National Liberal Club (NLC) is a historic private members' club founded in 1882, located in the heart of Westminster. Known for its breathtaking Victorian architecture designed by Alfred Waterhouse, the club occupies a grand building overlooking the Thames. The NLC is celebrated for its inclusive ethos, welcoming members from all backgrounds, genders, and ethnicities. It hosts a diverse range of cultural, social, and sporting events, reflecting its commitment to liberal values and community engagement. The club's facilities include dining rooms, bars, meeting spaces, and accommodations, providing a sophisticated yet welcoming environment for its members.
The Head of Facilities is a key member of the NLC Senior Management Team (SMT), responsible for the work of the Facilities Department, which encompasses security, IT contract management, reception, maintenance, cleaning, health and safety, and department procurement. Beyond the day-to-day operations, the post holder will also lead refurbishment and renovation projects. Reporting to the Chief Executive, they will work closely with the SMT colleagues to ensure a high-quality member experience is achieved through good team leadership, setting and maintaining high standards, and managing a strong operational relationship with the RH Hotel.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, communication and interpersonal abilities, and a demonstrable track record of overseeing a range of FM operational functions and services within a similar environment. Ideally coming from another private members' club, high-end hospitality organisation, or a heritage building, the Head of Facilities will have a great eye for standards, a passion for customer service, and experience in implementing changes within processes and systems.
