Graduate Continuous Improvement Engineer

As in-house recruiters for a large multinational organisation, DENSO Marston based in Shipley, West Yorkshire, we are looking for an energetic and passionate Graduate to join us in the exciting position of Graduate Continuous Improvement Engineer. This role is an exciting and varied position, where you can make a real impact upon how our manufacturing plan operates moving forward. Working in a busy manufacturing environment, candidates should have an awareness of manufacturing techniques such as, line balancing, process flow /mapping, process control, kaizen and kanban systems an understanding of managing industrial KPI's, such as OEE, Labour etc.

Working hours:

Mon-Thurs 8.30am – 5.00pm

Fri - 8.30am- 1.30pm

25 days per year + statutory bank holidays

Key Responsibilities

  • Standard Work Rate Setting / Time & Motion Studies
  • Identifying key improvements through Product & Process Flow, Value Stream
  • Mapping, data analysis and evaluation
  • Manufacturing Floor Layouts
  • Promoting of lean practices and principals.
  • Project Management of key manufacturing and logistics improvements

Essential Experience

  • Strong knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques, such as 6 Sigma, SPC, Kaizen, SMED, 5S, Standard work rate setting.
  • Good Project Management skills, with proven ability delivering to deadlines and utilisation of Project Management tools and techniques.
  • A strong knowledge base around Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • A good understanding of safety awareness alongside good IT skills.
  • Other skills needed include the knowledge required to conduct time and motion studies, identify and map product and process flows through a company, an understanding of Value Stream Mapping, and translating data in to space plans and floor layouts.
  • Working as part of a team you will be required to support and contribute towards the drive for continuous improvement and support departmental improvements initiatives encompassing People; Safety; Quality; Service & Cost.

Specialist Knowledge/Qualification

Engineering Degree in a related field preferably mechanical bias.

It would be beneficial to have an understanding of computerised planning and scheduling techniques associated with modern manufacturing (Excel and MRP) as is the ability to analyse data in a logical way.
