Finance Officer

Nigel Wright are currently working with a organisation seeking a part time (21.75 hours) finance officer based from their Carlisle office. This role is a fixed term contract for 2 years.

The Role

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Carry out work in relation to service charge setting, including service charge budgets; preparing resident statements; assessing the adequacy of provisions; supporting operational staff.
  • Prepare a service charge budget for all schemes and to monitor expenditure against that budget.
  • Prepare service charge statements
  • Monitor provision funds on leaseholder schemes to ensure sufficient resources are available to cover on-going maintenance and planned works and that the leasehold bank account is maintained.
  • Record surplus/deficit from annual accounts and provide information to leasehold team/rents for action.
  • Support the leasehold team to present and discuss annual service charge budget and accounts to leaseholders.
  • Ensure all monthly rent and service charge reviews for leasehold, shared ownership and sale schemes are actioned and notifications sent out to residents and local authorities.
  • Remain aware of service charge legislation for both fixed and variable service charges and to ensure that information is compliant.
  • Provide specific advice and support on areas relating to the maximisation of service charge and other income to the business
  • Contribute to the successful production of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports within the income management function.
  • Prepare and send sundry debtor invoices, monitor for payments and produce statements of unrecoverable debts.
  • Account for and reconcile income from a variety of sources i.e. recharges, energy sub accounts, leaseholder gas check accounts, solar panels and air source heat pumps.
  • Contribute to the overall performance and achievement of objectives for the team
