Commercial Accountant

Gifford and Partners are partnering with a leading business to offer an individual the opportunity to join in the capacity of Commercial Accountant based in Leeds that will help develop the financial strategy and roadmap. Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial Finance and with a dotted responsibility to the Finance Director, this role will provide both commercial and business analysis on key performance metrics, partnering with the operational stakeholders, whilst bridging the gap between core finance.

The role of commercial accountant will partner with the operational teams within the business, ensuring a thorough understanding of contract performance, KPI metrics, new and current business pricing whilst on the other side, ensure there is a link to core finance, monthly reporting and ensure commercial activity is inline with accounting governance and policy. Supporting new business and product pricing/offerings, stock and inventory analysis, conducting various commercial modelling including large tender work and understand risk management and foreign currency exposure. As Commercial Accountant, you will be hands on in a role that engages across the business so communication skills are an utmost importance as are the following skill:

Responsibilities include:

  • A good understanding of commercial analysis with a strong analysing information and numbers whilst being able to determine key points quickly and efficiently.
  • Presenting commercial ideologies and concepts to a wide audience both at peer and senior levels
  • Providing a link between commercial/operations and finance/accounting departments
  • Support any adhoc projects and reporting where required.
  • Work as a business partner to commercial operations in areas of pricing and managing of costs
  • Developing and managing financial strategies, planning and budgeting
  • Analysing financial performance and providing insights
  • Presenting financial analysis and insights to stakeholders using excel and/or PowerBI or similar
  • Identifying and evaluating potential areas of improvement

Ideally the role is targeting a qualified ACMA/ACCA/ACA ideally with an accounting, economics or business degree with between 3-5 years' experience or equivalent.
