Temporary Head of Finance (Charity)

REED is working in close partnership with our long-established third sector client on the appointment of a temporary Head of Finance to cover a period of planned absence of around 3 months+.

The key objective with this role is to oversee and manage all of the financial processing, reporting and other accounting matters within the group.

Key responsibilities include, although are not limited to:

  • To direct and manage staff within the finance function to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and developed to carry out their duties and responsibilities
  • To ensure full financial processing, reports and funding claims are processed and reported on a timely basis
  • To oversee the management of the production of budgets and monthly management accounts to include income & Expenditure accounts, balance sheets and cashflows including forecasts to agreed timetables
  • To ensure all obligations in respect of payroll, HMRC and pension administration are met
  • To work with managers across the Group of companies to ensure the implementation of actions arising from internal and external audit reports
  • To ensure organisational compliance with a range of agencies
  • To liaise with external auditors to ensure timely audits and reporting
  • To liaise with Company bankers as and when required
  • To lead on internal team meetings
  • To attend and participate in other relevant internal and external meetings as required
  • To develop and maintain appropriate professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders

Essential Criteria:

  • Fully Qualified Accountant CIMA, ACA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years' middle management experience in a financial environment. This must include 3 years' experience of managing a staff team with demonstrable ability to manage and develop high quality services
