Engineering Manager

Based at their manufacturing site in Hampshire our client, a manufacturer with an excellent portfolio of products supplied to major UK retailers is currently looking to recruit an Engineering Manager to organise, direct and manage the engineering department in driving performance within a high-speed multi-line 24-hour operation. The position is also a key member of the site management team with full responsibility for all engineering staff, site infrastructure, security and utilities required for a smooth safe operation.

Responsibilities will include managing the engineering department in full compliance with Quality, Health and Safety at Work parameters whilst always promoting Continuous Improvement and GMP. The post holder will also be responsible for training and development of all engineering staff to deliver exceptional performance across the site. maintaining and improving production lines and managing contractors, all within a budget.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Ownership and accountability for Engineering operations within the business unit.
  • To provide professional, high-quality leadership and direction to Engineering and other relevant staff within the area of responsibility
  • Be flexible in providing leadership and support to attain high levels of Operational performance across all shifts as required.
  • Ensure that operations on all equipment are performed to a professional, high-quality standard.
  • Liaise closely with Production Management to prioritise production planning and equipment availability.
  • Liaise closely with Supply Chain Management to ensure effective maintenance schedules are issued and achieved, preventing downtime and maximising effectiveness.
  • Design, coordinate and deliver effective maintenance schedules with the Facilities and Maintenance teams, utilising the site's software to measure performance.
  • Coach, develop and support the Engineering Leadership Group
  • Identify bottlenecks and limiting factors, and work cross-departmentally to resolve and eliminate them, driving performance improvements.
  • Drive improvements through the site production control systems.
  • Work closely as part of a team in conjunction with Quality, Production, Planning, Warehouse and Manufacturing departments
  • Deputise for the Operations Director as required.

You will need a background in Engineering from within a Food, Beverage or other FMCG high-speed manufacturing environment, & substantial experience of managing large teams of engineers and contractors through managers.
