The UK Manufacturing plant has an annual turnover of circa £6.5 million, employ's around 40 employees and is based in Barnstaple, North Devon.

The factory manufactures a range of cooking and food preparation equipment which is sold to major Food Service/ Food retail customers via inter-company partners.

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Financial Controller to join the Senior Management Team. This is a number one position covering the full breadth of accounting duties, requiring hands-on involvement in all areas of finance.

The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing all plant-level financial planning and business analysis activities, specifically business partnering with the Plant Manager to develop and execute a business strategy and detailed business plans.

Essential duties include:

  • Providing strong financial control in the organisation by maintaining and developing the current systems, tools, standard reporting, and the appropriate resources within the team.
  • Planning, coordinating, and administering the business unit's accounting functions, including preparing accurate financial statements and accounting related reports for the business unit and corporate management in accordance with corporate policies and GAAP.
  • Conducting analysis, recommending, and implementing procedures to help with critical business decisions.
  • Preparing the annual operating plan in conjunction with the Plant Manager, which is used to measure and evaluate the financial status of the business.
  • Directing and assisting on all financial matters to all departments in the business.
  • Overseeing HR and IT duties for the site including Payroll duties.

The Successful Applicant

  • Significant post qualified experience (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Proven track record of operating in a broad and varied Finance role, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience of managing a Finance team and must possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • A 'people friendly' approach and willingness to engage with colleagues from different cultures from across the business and the ability to work as part of a team in an ever-changing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft packages.
