Working for a health care organisation that supplies hospitals across the country. Additionally, alongside donations, they are responsible for storage, and transplantation of tissue, bone marrow, and stem cells. They also conduct world-class research to enhance patient outcomes.

Your new role The Research, Development, Collaborations and Sales, Head of Commercial (RDSH) will play a leading role by maximising research and development (R&D), collaborations, and other activities, including to enable and deliver revenue and sales opportunities that benefit patients, donors and the NHS. The successful candidate will be pivotal to the development of the Commercial Function. Leading development and implementation of commercial best practice and continuous improvement while enabling and providing commercial support for research, development and collaboration, including revenue and sales for the organisation. This will involve multi-faceted engagement across multiple stakeholders both internally and with existing and potential commercial partners.

  • Be an active member of the Senior Leadership Team within the Commercial Function and working with the Commercial Director to support growth of the function.
  • Leadership and oversight of all R&D, collaborations and revenue and sales. This includes, developing and managing strategic partner and collaborator relationship management, continuous improvement, performance management, and disputes.
  • Enabling good governance through ensuring that commitments are met with compliant, good quality and appropriate submissions including reporting of KPI's
  • Building, motivating, and leading a diverse team of commercial professionals so that they remain engaged and feel valued.
  • Leading complex and high value negotiations, escalating only where necessary to secure progress or improve outcomes.
  • Ensure that the Health and Safety Policies, Standard Operating Procedures and National Guidelines are adhered to at all times.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Evidence of designing and implementing commercial vision, strategy and frameworks within a large scale, complex organisation for relevant category areas.
  • Proven agile leader, able to respond swiftly to change without compromise to achieving value for money, ensuring governance and mitigating risk.
  • Strong negotiation skills. Experience of influencing key stakeholders, colleagues, and partners, collaborators and customers at the most senior level within a highly complex, fast-moving, commercially focused environment.
  • Proven commercial skills and experience of delivery across the full commercial lifecycle, including knowledge and understanding of commercial policies and their practical application, as well as the ability to implement the latest commercial methodologies.
  • Be able to travel to Bristol regularly.
