Risk, Insurance & Information Governance RIIG Officer

We are working with Tameside Council to find a Risk, Insurance & Information Governance Officer on a temporary basis.

Length of role: Initial 3 months.
Hourly rate: £22 PAYE/£27 Umbrella Per hour.
Hours: 36 hours per week.
Location: Hybrid/Tameside One, Market Place.

The role:

As the RIIG Officer, you will support the Risk, Insurance, and Information Governance Manager in delivering best in class RIIG service, but most notably specialising in information governance advice and guidance as well as playing a key role in supporting business owners to produce Data Protection Impact Assessments and conducting data breach investigations.

Key Duties:

- Keeping the Information Governance Framework under review, ensuring that it is fit for purpose, remains in line with available business and technology strategies and conforms to all relevant standards and statutory requirements.

- Providing members of the public and Council staff with advice and guidance on insurance matters, including support on technical insurance matters.

- Supporting the Risk, Insurance, and Information Governance Manager in the implementation of the Council's risk management and business continuity strategies and promote the practise of risk management throughout the Council.

- Advise on risk management and counter measures to minimise the impact of information risks to the Council.

- Undertaking periodic audits/security reviews of information held by the Council to ensure adherence to legislation, policies and procedures thus minimising the risk of data/information losses/incidents.

Experiences/skills required:

- Previous risk management and insurance claims experience.

- Experience of working with either Data Protection, Freedom of Information or Information Governance issues e.g. handling data subject/information access requests and providing advice on information governance.

- Experience of assessing risks and compiling risk registers

- Experience and understanding of business continuity.

- Experience of working in a large organisation, dealing with multiple enquiries and tasks simultaneously in a timely manner
