Robert Half is representing an expanding health and well-being businesses in Esher, who are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Bookkeeper to join their finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting tasks, and ensuring the smooth financial operations of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update financial records, including accounts payable and receivable
- Process and reconcile invoices, payments, and bank statements
- Prepare financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
- Monitor and manage company expenses, ensuring proper documentation and classification
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with HMRC guidelines
- Assist with payroll processing and ensure timely payments to staff
- Manage petty cash and reconcile discrepancies
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors as needed
- Support financial forecasting and budgeting processes
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and best practices
- Respond to financial inquiries from management and provide financial insights
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role
- AAT-qualified
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Familiarity with VAT regulations and UK tax laws
- Strong communication skills
