Learning Support Assistant with L3 BSL Specialism (2 Roles)

Hours; Part time (30 hours per week for 37 weeks worked – Term time plus 1 training week)

Permanent

Salary; £22,256 per annum 1 FTE (Pro-rata £14,922.16) plus extra £6.59ph when carrying out BSL duties.

Location; Rotherham College (Cross Campus as required)

The Role

We are looking for Learning Support Assistants to work within our busy Additional Learning Support Team.

In this rewarding role, you will provide in and out of class support to assist students with learning difficulties/disabilities to help them achieve their best possible outcomes. This may be supporting with personal care and/or literacy and numeracy. The role includes providing BSL support and note taking as required.

You will be a key part of the Student Support team, and will assist in the planning, preparation & reviewing of learning in conjunction with relevant curriculum staff, providing feedback and carrying out reviews as appropriate to ensure students are making expected progress and working towards outcomes.

You will have the personal skills to be able to effectively support students, dealing with challenging behaviour when it arises, and helping them to develop their own coping strategies.

You will have experience supporting students in an educational setting and knowledge of SEND, ALS and EHCP's

You will need to hold or be working towards your Maths and English L2/C grade to be considered for this role and be willing to work towards an adult learner support or equivalent qualification.

You are required to hold a minimum of Level 3 British Sign Language qualification

Department Info

In this role you will work closely with members of the Additional Learning Support and Curriculum department teams. You will report directly to the LSA Coordinator and liaise closely with tutors to support learners within the classroom environment.
