Fostering Social Worker - Barrow/Workington

£40-£45 per hour

3 days per week in office

  • Assessment of Potential Foster Carers: Conducting home visits and interviews to evaluate the suitability of prospective foster parents.
  • Placement of Children: Matching children with appropriate foster families based on the child's needs and the carer's capabilities. Coordinating the transition of children into foster homes, ensuring it is as smooth as possible.
  • Supporting Foster Families: Providing ongoing support and guidance to foster carers. Offering emotional support and resources to foster families.
  • Supervision and Monitoring: Child Welfare and Advocacy and Regularly visiting foster homes to monitor the child's well-being and the carer's performance.
  • Advocating for the Child: Ensuring that the child's needs are met, including educational, medical, and emotional requirements.
  • Training Foster Carers: Organising and delivering training sessions for foster carers on various topics, such as child development, trauma, and behaviour management.
  • Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of all interactions, assessments, and decisions. Writing reports and updates on the child's progress and any incidents or concerns
  • Handling Emergencies: Fostering social workers play a critical role in the child welfare system, ensuring that foster children receive the care and support they need while also supporting foster families in their care giving roles.
