We are seeking a SEND Assistant and Family Support Adviser (FSA) to join a Plymouth school. This role is both varied and challenging, offering the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children, young people, and families. By empowering parents and carers, you will help to strengthen the home-school partnership and contribute to the best educational experience for our pupils.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Act as a primary contact for families requiring support, especially those vulnerable or ‘at risk.'
  • Foster positive relationships with parents and carers to enhance the home-school partnership.
  • Provide confidential support and advice to parents on various issues affecting their children.
  • Facilitate group workshops and support sessions for parents/carers.
  • Work on improving attendance in collaboration with the school attendance lead and external agencies.
  • Engage parents/carers in their child's learning and promote the importance of parental influence.
  • Complete necessary documentation to ensure families receive appropriate support.
  • Record interactions and concerns using the school's electronic safeguarding system.
  • Liaise with a range of local agencies to provide or signpost suitable assistance.
  • Conduct home visits and support parents during school transitions.
  • Provide pastoral support to pupils and assist with the delivery of development intervention programmes.
  • Comply with all relevant policies and procedures and contribute to the school's aims and vision.
