Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Contract: 6-12 month contract / Ongoing inside IR35 via umbrella agency - £45/hour

Location: Cwmbran

Clear Choice Recruitment is working behalf of a global organisation that serves the Aerospace Industry. They are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer working from their Cwmbran site to join their growing team initially on a 6-12 month fixed term contract.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role is seen as a planning and coordination authority, through knowledge, experience and exposure to high complexity category programs. In this role you will provide input and support to Chief Engineers. You will need to be experienced in leading and developing others, managing workload and resources across multiple programs concurrently, ideally within the Aerospace industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design and detail modelling of a variety of suite components in order to meet programme requirements.
  • Produce designs to meet specified cost/weight targets.
  • Design Engineers will be expected to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers.
  • Participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process.
  • The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element.
  • Ensure the successful integration of each design element within the product as a whole.
  • Participate in the validation of the product (using such methods as prototyping, test, DFMEA)
  • Follow and contribute to the development of the Best Practice guidelines
  • From time to time, Design Engineers must be prepared to undertake tasks outside of their normal duties as requested by their immediate supervisors.

Requirements:

  • Educated to Degree level within an Engineering capacity
  • Experience of working within mechanical design, all industries considered
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Experience of using CAD software - CATIA V5 would be desirable but others will be considered
