  • Invoice Processing and Coding:
  • Purchase Ledger Clerks code and check invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper allocation to relevant accounts.
  • They reconcile delivery notes with received invoices and purchase orders.
  • VAT Calculations:
  • Purchase Ledger Clerks calculate VAT payments, utilising their mathematical skills.
  • Payment Processing:
  • They handle payments via BACS (Bankers' Automated Clearing Services) or by cheque.
  • Additionally, they maintain petty cash and process business expense returns.
  • Supplier Reconciliation:
  • Purchase Ledger Clerks check and reconcile supplier statements, ensuring consistency and resolving discrepancies.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:
  • They deal with purchase-related enquiries and maintain positive relationships with suppliers.
