  • A new exciting opportunity has become available for a Lead Ruby on Rails Developer to join a UK leading housing association client to lead the technical development of their existing online customer services platform. This role is ideal for a hands-on, seasoned developer with a strong background in Ruby on Rails and a passion for leading a team to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of a bespoke online customer services platform using Ruby on Rails and associated technologies
  • Write clean, secure, well-formatted code that adheres to best practices for security and supports cross-browser compatibility.
  • Champion test-driven development, writing tests as a standard practice and fostering a culture that prioritizes this approach.
  • Design new features considering both the existing system architecture and potential future modifications.
  • Manage, mentor, and lead a team of Ruby on Rails developers, setting high standards for code quality and fostering a learning environment.
  • Take ownership of the team's coding standards and continuously seek improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience as a Ruby on Rails Developer.
  • Proficiency in web technologies including Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and familiarity with web development tools such as Docker, Git, Google Analytics, and Google Tag Manager.
  • Experience with database development (MS SQL server / Postgres).
  • Strong background in test-driven development, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services, DevOps practices, and continuous integration.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in agile development methodologies and a strong advocate for agile practices.
