Material and Inventory Controller

Due to continued growth, my client a Plymouth based manufacturer requires the assistance of an experienced Material & Inventory Controller to manage the businesses material requirements for production. Reporting to Management this role presents an exciting opportunity for the right candidate who wants to drive significant impact for the future & growth of the business regarding material purchasing and supply chain.

The Material & Inventory Controller is a key member of the Materials team who ensures that the right materials are in the right place at the right time and at the lowest possible cost. Main duties include:

  • Ensuring material availability to meet customer demand, New Product Introduction, production planning and any other project requirements.
  • Challenging and fixing any losses in the supply process both internally and at the supplier to ensure that work processes are continually adapted to the current environment
  • Support localisation projects involving bringing in/switching off component supply to a local supplier.
  • Tight control and implementation of new procedures to support the business in achieving streamlined, transparent material visibility, using SAP.
  • Provide a focus for all supplier related issues and ensure timely, accurate expediting and KPI support
  • Responsible for the ordering of components, monitoring the adherence to lead-times, supplier delivery performance, as well as safety stocks, stocking strategies and ensuring delivery dates from the supplier are confirmed.
  • The position involves liaising with suppliers and other departments within the business, supporting them, while working to achieve individual departmental targets and goals in support of revenue and inventory targets and operational goals for on-time customer order fulfilment.
  • Working together with other departments in the business the role will be integral in developing and implementing business system changes and stocking strategies to meet the future goals of the business in relation to Inventory Reduction and the Return on Invested Capital.
  • The role will require interaction and consultation with other business areas to ensure any system changes/updates in their departments do not impact materials systems or to work towards resolving any impacts in the best interests of the business.

To be chosen for the role you must possess the following experience:

  • Previous experience in material and inventory control in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
