It's Hire Management, but not as you know it. You're an experience Depot Manager / Branch Manager looking for a change in direction. You'll be responsible for the daily operation and team leadership of our increasingly busy construction engineering hire depot. Our products are unique, this isn't a typical plant hire depot manager role, read on for more.

BASIC SALARY: Up to £60,000

COMMUTABLE LOCATIONS: Derby, Nottingham, Loughborough, Leicester, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Swadlincote, Coalville, Lichfield, Rugeley, Stone-on-Trent, Stafford, Cannock, Tamworth, Hinckley, Sutton Coldfield.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Depot Manager / Operations Manager / Branch Manager / Hire

Some aspects of this Depot Manager / Branch Manager role will be familiar, for example:

  • The day to day management of a team (about 20)
  • Over seeing the availability & quality of our hire equipment - it's all construction based, but unique to us and our sector.
  • Ensuring the smooth operation of the site in general, including equipment storage, repair & maintenance and accurate stock control.

BUT, there will be a big difference in the type of equipment you'll be hiring out, which means the customer experience / expectation is very different. Also different are the challenges around equipment repair, maintenance and availability.

You can see there's a lot to get your teeth into. We didn't even get started on the ongoing training & mentorship of your team, making improvements to the overall efficiency of the hire and turn-around process or maximising equipment on-hire utilisation.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: Depot Manager / Operations Manager / Branch Manager / Hire

To step into this role you'll need to be an experienced Depot Manager / Operations Manager / Branch Manager.

While the kit will be different, your skills will be transferable so you could have managed depots or branches across:

  • Plant, tool, powered access, lifting, crane.
  • Welfare, generators, forklifts.
  • HGV, agricultural equipment, attachments or equipment hire.

But, you might have managed Trade Depot's / Hire Depot's within Builders Merchants, Timber or Plumbing Merchants, etc.

Whatever your background you'll be able to demonstrate:

  • A proven track record of team leadership.
  • The ability to take ownership of projects and tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, be able to take people on a journey with you.
  • Superb organisational skills.

Above all you'll need to bring the energy and desire to develop those around you as well as thrive while being in the thick of things.
