We are a dynamic and forward-thinking Further Education Provider committed to delivering high-quality education and training. As a Management Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our financial management and strategic decision-making.

As a Management Accountant, you will combine accounting, finance, and management to prepare internal financial reports and provide valuable insights into our business performance. Your objective will be to help senior management use financial information to inform business strategy, contributing to meet with College budget holders monthly to analyse pay and non-pay spend, as well as all funding sources.

  • Review month-end balance sheet reconciliations, investigate irregularities, and report concerns to the Director of Finance.
  • Manage treasury and cash flow, ensuring income maximization on surplus cash balances.
  • Prepare and finalize annual financial statements in accordance with sector and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain and develop an effective budget production, monitoring, and management system.
  • Manage and update the finance system for accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist in preparing College budgets and three-year financial forecasts.
  • Assist in producing the College Financial Forecasting Return (CFFR) and supporting documents.
  • Address relevant statutory requirements, including VAT treatment and timely completion of VAT returns.
  • Produce and submit regulatory bodies' returns, including ESFA submissions.
  • Develop a financial training strategy for non-financial managers.
  • Ensure annual verification of assets and maintain the fixed asset register.
  • Reconcile monthly actual pay costs to payroll reports.
  • Assist in managing the College capital bid reporting process.
  • Deputize for the Director of Finance in interactions with external and internal auditors.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified or part-qualified ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) professional.
  • Experience in management accounting, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in FE college/uni/school would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
