Laboratory Assistant, Warrington - (Job Ref - 24/WALB)

Randox Laboratories are seeking applications from candidates to assist our Randox Warrington laboratory. The successful candidate will be trained in sample and stock receipt, preparation, storage and disposal for Clinical and Molecular specimen testing. Additionally, the candidate will be trained in the operational use and maintenance of analysers for Blood and Urine analysis.

The shifts are 12 hours 4 days on 4 days off.

Location UK-Warrington

Responsibilities:

- Routine use of RCLS laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Receipt and accession of Randox Health, Clinical Trial, Internal R&D, Production, EQA and QC samples for analysis.
- Specimen analysis, storage and disposal.
- Maintenance of sample inventory.
- Strict adherence to chain of custody procedures throughout the analytical process.
- The preparation of specimens for transportation to ensure that their stability is safeguarded during shipment to the appropriate analytical laboratory.
- Recording and monitoring of temperatures for laboratory equipment.
- Operation and maintenance of the SYSMEX XS-1000I Haematology analyser.
- Operation of Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) Analyser.
- Ownership of External Quality Control (EQA) Schemes of Urine Dipstick, Urine Chemistries and Full Blood Count involving the review, filling and storage of quality control records.

The Candidate
Essential

  • Qualified to at least A level or equivalent in Science Level Subject
  • Possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Possess excellent organisational skills
  • Be computer literate
  • Flexible working hours including shift work
  • Ability to work on their own and within a team

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety including CoSHH
