Description

About the Team

The stakeholder engagement team provides expert advice to colleagues across the NMC on best practice strategic engagement and co-production with the UK health and care system's stakeholders. We manage and enable the design and delivery of engagement to ensure the NMC builds collaborative, trusting relationships which enable us to better regulate, support and influence the nursing and midwifery professions for the benefit of the public.

About the Role

In this role you'll lead stakeholder engagement planning for stakeholders across the breadth of our external landscape: mapping these partners, setting objectives for our relationships, building engagement plans to support these, and evaluating impact.

You'll work closely with colleagues and senior leaders across the NMC to advise on the best approaches to engage and co-produce with stakeholders on a range of projects. To support this you'll develop engagement plans and briefing materials and design engagement events that enable effective external engagement. There will be the opportunity to lead projects within the directorate, managing communications planning across all our internal and external audiences.

You'll represent the NMC externally, building a strong network of relationships that support us to work collaboratively across organisations.

About You

You'll have strong experience working in an engagement or communications role and be experienced in developing and delivering stakeholder engagement plans.

You'll be comfortable using this experience and stakeholder insight to provide advice and support to senior leaders on engagement approaches. You'll have excellent people skills and be able to work with diverse teams, across complex organisation, and in a collaborative way.

The role requires an understanding of and commitment to the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion within the NMC and in our stakeholder engagement and communications, and the ability to apply this to your work.

Excellent accuracy and attention to detail is needed to support delivery of high quality briefing materials and correspondence for senior NMC leaders. You'll also be able to work independently, prioritise and organise a varied workload in a changing and complex organisation.

About Us

Our core role is to regulate. First, we promote high education and professional standards for nurses and midwives across the UK, and nursing associates in England. Second, we maintain the register of professionals eligible to practise. Third, we investigate concerns about nurses, midwives and nursing associates - something that affects a tiny minority of professionals each year. We believe in giving professionals the chance to address concerns, but we'll always take action when needed.

To regulate well, we support our professions and the public. We create resources and guidance that are useful throughout people's careers, helping them to deliver our standards in practice and address new challenges. We also support people involved in our investigations, and we're increasing our visibility so people feel engaged and empowered to shape our work.

Regulating and supporting our professions allows us to influence health and social care. We share intelligence from our regulatory activities and work with our partners to support workforce planning and sector-wide decision making. We use our voice to speak up for a healthy and inclusive working environment for our professions.
