Business Support Officer

  • Job Type: Full-time, 8.30am-5pm Mon-Fri
  • Salary: £12.59 PAYE / £15.41 Umbrella per hour

My client are seeking a dedicated Business Support Officer to join their team in Barnsley. The role involves attending and minuting Safeguarding conference meetings, both in the Town Centre and other locations. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately recording plans and minutes onto the Mosaic - Children's Social Care database and may also cover Safeguarding Duty.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Provide a confidential business support service to front line and statutory services.
  • Handle telephone and face-to-face enquiries, offering advice, guidance, and support.
  • Respond to various correspondence and manage incoming and outgoing information.
  • Maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring information flow is consistent.
  • Support statutory meetings by recording decisions accurately and directly onto electronic forms using mobile IT devices.
  • Organise and coordinate meetings, managing diaries and appointments.
  • Undertake project work and research, ensuring high-quality information is delivered on time.
  • Analyse data and produce reports suitable for a range of audiences.
  • Perform administrative duties, manage interruptions, and address customer queries and requests.
  • Assist in the design and development of internal business support systems and processes.
  • Maintain electronic and paper-based systems with accurate information storage.
  • Handle financial administration tasks, including order placement and payment processing.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in a business support environment, dealing with highly confidential information.
  • Skilled in research and reporting, with experience in financial information management.
  • Proficient in minute taking directly onto mobile devices with speed and accuracy.
  • Understanding of national and local government policies.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and knowledgeable in information governance and data protection.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical with attention to detail, able to organise and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a team.
