Interim Head of Communications and Engagement
- Day Rate: Negotiable (up to £500 per day dependant on experience)

Reed are supporting a Greater Manchester Council in their recruitment to an Interim Head of Communications and Engagement position. In this role, you will provide expert leadership and management of the Council's Communication, Engagement, and Marketing functions. This role is crucial in supporting our strategic objectives and requires a dynamic individual who can maintain robust dialogue with partners and stakeholders.
Day to Day of the role:
- Lead the development and implementation of communication and engagement strategies that align with the borough's vision and strategic objectives.
- Safeguard the Council's reputation by promoting its work through effective communications, engagement, marketing, and branding.
- Direct all communication and engagement projects, leveraging resources and new technologies to keep internal and external audiences informed.
- Provide strategic advice to senior officers on campaigns, digital design, brand, internal communications, and stakeholder engagement.
- Design and deliver the internal communications strategy to support organisational development objectives and foster an empowered workforce.
- Support high-profile service transformation and change programmes with effective communication strategies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- In-depth experience in communications within Local Government/Public Sector.
- Proven track record in managing high-profile and sensitive media issues.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating internal communications strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including networking, influencing, and negotiating with senior-level individuals and external partners.
