News Correspondent - Events

The News Correspondent role here at Mash is a relatively new one, and is job split largely between research and investigative journalism. This person's core responsibilities would be to source, write and edit interesting news pieces for the audience of over 100k event professional subscribers that we hold.

Key aspects of the role are laid out below:

Responsibilities:

  • Writing of script for weekly round-up videos
  • Collecting and curating of segment specific news for the round-ups, newsletters, and website
  • Reposting with comments on relevant social media channels
  • Maintenance of relationship with key industry associations & contributors within your segment
  • Regular reading of industry whitepapers, research, and statistics within your market segment
  • Generation of new content and feature ideas within your subject matter
  • Using SEO to drive traffic to our content pieces and website
  • Understanding social media to further amplify content through our networks

KPIs:

  • Timely broadcasting of breaking news and interviews (within 72 hours)
  • Timely delivery of content pieces to marketing ahead of weekly and monthly newsletters
  • Timely writing and posting of weekly and monthly features
  • Consistent growth of your personal contact database in HubSpot
  • Monthly report on your pieces engagements to be delivered to your line-manager
  • Attendance of at least 3 relevant events per month
  • Timely writing and publishing of a minimum of 4 high quality long form pieces per month on your subject area
  • Timely vetting, proofing, and publishing of a min of 8 high quality press releases pieces per week on your subject area

The role is primarily office based in Kingston upon Thames; however we do encourage all of our team to get out to as many events as possible to keep your week's fresh, and embed yourselves in what is an incredibly vibrant and innovative industry.

We're forward thinking with our working hours, always providing opportunities for additional time off subject to achievement - regular working hours for the role are 9am-5pm Monday-Thursday, and 9am-1pm on Fridays.
