Audio Visual Project Engineer

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to work for a leading global provider of design and build services.
They are seeking an experienced Audio-Visual (AV) Project Engineer to join their dynamic and varied team. You will play a key role in taking projects from concept to completion, working closely with the creative design team and managing the delivery of AV systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Oversee the full cycle of AV projects, from initial concept through to final completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
  • Technical Design: Produce detailed AV technical drawings, schematics, CAD drawings, cable schedules, and MEP requirements for installation.
  • Client Liaison: Work closely with clients to understand their requirements, provide technical solutions, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Team Management: Manage and oversee a team of AV installers, ensuring high-quality installation and commissioning of AV systems.
  • Tender and Bids: Produce tender document bids and work closely with the design team to deliver accurate pricing and technical solutions.
  • Risk Management: Consider project risks, resources, and implementation methodologies to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure all designs comply with health and safety regulations.

Based from our client's offices in Surrey or working from home as well as on site, salary doe £60k-£90k plus benefits. International travel will be required with some projects lasting several weeks up to a month or two.

Your skills and Experience

  • High proficiency in Autocad.
  • Ability to interpret client requirements and translate them into detailed proposals and technical designs.
  • Expertise in AV system design, including installation drawings, cable schedules, wiring diagrams, and rack build design.
  • Proficiency in show control programming (e.g., Alcorn McBride, AVStumpfl, Dataton, 7th sense).
  • Understanding of IP networks, video projection, projection mapping, theatrical lighting, audio, and video.
  • Experience with software and hardware used in leisure projects (e.g., DMX, pneumatic, hydraulic, and servo control, PLCs, lighting desks, theatre luminaires, DSPs).
  • Knowledge of integrating special effects such as motion platforms, animatronics, mechanical effects, and theatrical special effects.

Additional Skills:

  • Experience in the following areas: museums, visitor centres, theme parks and theatre.
  • Understanding of special effect technology including mechanical effects, dome projection, motion platforms, smoke machines, animatronics, water effects, and lighting special effects.

Qualifications:

A degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
Extensive experience in the design and delivery of AV systems in the leisure industry.
