The successful candidate will be a key member of the Global Engine Support leadership team and will be accountable for the management, leadership, compliance and productivity of the On-Wing Mechanics team. You will be responsible for managing the training, coaching and development of the team, as well as holding budgetary responsibility for cost control and budget forecasts.
Accountability / Responsibility:
- Responsible for driving a safety culture within the On-Wing Team.
- Adherence to HAECO and UK Health and Safety policies by the On-Wing Team.
- Delivery of the on-wing plan to agreed timelines meeting contractual delivery KPI's.
- Responsible for the performing investigations into occurrences, implementing corrective action/safety barriers with in the time scales defined in the occurrence.
- Responsible for ensuring necessary risk assessments are completed and mitigations enacted where required.
- Compliance to the HAECO procedures for working away from the approved locations.
- To identify and develop staff in areas of training, promotion, salary reviews and general discipline.
- Responsible to develop the on-wing budget and manage cost controls to the agreed budget.
- Implement and deliver Lean / CI programs that deliver benefits to the team and business.
Key Duties:
Safety:
- Conduct regular briefings at least once each mechanics shift with the production team highlighting safety to drive the HAECO Safety culture
- Be aware of and promote the HAECOGES Safety targets and near miss reporting.
- Investigate near miss and other reports to address concerns relating to health and safety recognising the challenging work environment of on-wing maintenance.
Technical
- Ownership of Special Techniques such as boroblend and fan blade reprofiling.
- Tooling is sufficient and maintained
- Management of the vehicles fleet used for ramp maintenance including the compressor wash trailers.
- Monitoring resource status to ensure availability and capability is matched to business requirements and escalating accordingly.
- Ensure the business is efficient with all resources and maintaining cost control. This includes manpower availability and fatigue management.
- Develop annual technical training plan to have sufficient approval holders to meet forecast workload, whist managing staff development and cost.
- Represents the On-Wing Team at planning and forecasting meetings.
- Providing suitable technical resource to represent On-Wing in technical reviews of new tasks or campaigns.
Quality
- Quality Department for co-ordination, control and progress of inter-related work and customer's audit.
- Management of the GES On-Wing Team on resources, systems, and procedures in order to meet with target standards of operation performance and expenditures
- Carry out competence assessments and make recommendations to the Quality System for staff approvals
- Carry out regular ramp patrols at LHR line and hangars to ensure safety and quality standards are being maintained.
- Hold regular shift / team meeting to discuss current work environment, production, quality assurance and other work-related issues.
- Carry out investigation and provide reports for occurrences, accident/incident and complains.
- Support the Quality Department as needed to interface with regulatory authorities and local governments, including International locations, to ensure regulatory compliance of technical operations activities on a global basis
Performance Management
- Provide training and support for staff managing direct reports for performance reviews.
- Monitor and report use of Success Factors
- Provide Customer's KPI report and carry out investigation and provide reports for incident and complaints.
General Management
- To be a pro-active member of the GES UK management team.
- Produce reports as and when requested from senior managers or Hong Kong.
- Manage and arrange ID cards for staff at all locations that require access.
- Identifying, forecasting, allocating different type of business resources to the projects at the right time and cost.
- Ensure the business is efficient with all resources and maintaining cost control. This includes manpower availability and fatigue management.
- Development of the budget and forecast for the On-Wing team based on the forecast workloads provided by the Commercial team as part of the UK budget process each year.

Technical Experience
- Worked in an engine or aircraft maintenance organisation in an engineering role
Qualification & Experience
- Minimum 10 years experience in an aircraft line maintenance of engine maintenance
- Operational leadership or management experience in a similar environment.
