Senior Software Developer (Python/Django)

Position Summary:

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Senior Software Developer to join our team, working on cutting-edge climate change analytics. Reporting to the Solutions Architect / Lead Developer, the ideal candidate will be an experienced Python developer with familiarity with Django. Having some JavaScript (specifically Vue.js) experience and interest would be a bonus. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to impactful projects in the field of climate change, helping businesses understand and mitigate their risks and includes opportunities to directly impact decision making and project direction.

The successful candidate will enjoy the challenge of working on a fast-paced, innovative project while collaborating with a dynamic development team. Experience in the climate change, renewables, or utilities industries is a bonus but not required.

Additionally, DevOps skills (CI/CD, AWS) along with experience transitioning manual processes to fully automated services would be welcome.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain full-stack applications (both backend and frontend) using Python (Django) and JavaScript (Vue.js).
  • Collaborate closely with the Solutions Architect and development team to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
  • Design, implement, and test new features and functionalities for customer-facing applications.
  • Solve challenging technical problems independently and propose effective solutions.
  • Ensure that applications are optimized for maximum speed, scalability, and security.
  • Stay current with the latest technologies and best practices in software development.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Software Developer with a focus on Python (Django) and/or JavaScript (Vue.js).
  • Proficiency with modern web technologies, RESTful APIs, and version control (Git).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with cloud services (AWS or similar) and deployment pipelines.
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and front-end frameworks.
  • Knowledge of climate change or renewable energy sectors is a plus but not required.
