About the Client: Our client is a leading player in the insurance sector, renowned for their innovative approach and commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance their data infrastructure and analytics capabilities. They are seeking an experienced Snowflake Data Engineer to join their dynamic team on a contract basis, offering a competitive daily rate and the flexibility of a fully remote position.

Role Overview: As a Snowflake Data Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimising data pipelines and solutions using Snowflake. This role requires strong technical expertise in Snowflake, extensive experience with data engineering practices, and the ability to deliver high-quality data solutions that meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop efficient, scalable data pipelines and workflows in Snowflake.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Implement data integration and transformation processes using ETL/ELT best practices.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Optimise Snowflake performance and manage resource utilisation.
  • Maintain and support existing Snowflake environments, including troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Develop and document technical designs, data models, and data flow diagrams.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in Snowflake and data engineering.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Snowflake Data Engineer, preferably within the insurance industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Snowflake, including data warehousing, data lakes, and data integration.
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL and database design principles.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT processes and tools.
  • Familiarity with data security and governance best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications in Snowflake or data engineering.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment within the insurance industry.
  • Previous experience working in a remote or distributed team.
