Do you have a background in outdoor education, adventure instruction, or youth leadership through organisations like Scouts, Guides, or summer camps? We're looking for enthusiastic, hands-on individuals to bring their experience into Bristol schools as teaching assistants at the beginning of the next academic year (September 2025).

Many of the pupils you'll support as a Teaching Assistant will thrive in practical, active environments – and schools truly value the unique energy and resilience that outdoor leaders bring. These roles are ideal for anyone looking to make a difference while building flexible, fulfilling work around other commitments.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Supporting children in and outside the classroom, especially those who benefit from a kinaesthetic or active learning approach
  • Assisting pupils with their social and emotional development
  • Helping maintain structure and routine while making learning engaging and fun
  • Encouraging cooperation, confidence, and independence through tailored support
  • Working closely with teaching staff to support the needs of individual pupils or small groups

Qualifications and attributes:

  • Experience in outdoor education, adventure instruction, or youth leadership (e.g. Scouts/Guides, summer camps, DofE)
  • A proactive, calm, and adaptable approach to working with children
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with young people
  • An understanding of how to support behaviour and emotional regulation
  • A good level of written and spoken English

We offer:

  • Flexible teaching assistant roles from one day a week to full-time
  • Term-time only work (school hours, typically 8am–3:30/4pm)
  • Weekly pay
  • Opportunities across a variety of primary, secondary, and special schools in the Bristol area
  • Supportive registration process and dedicated consultant guidance

If you're ready to bring your outdoor leadership skills into the classroom and support young people in new and meaningful ways, get in touch to register – we'd love to hear from you!

Pay Rates: £85 - £100 per day (subject to experience and qualifications). This role is both full-time and part-time and during school hours, term-time only.
